Henk Sa (Partner) is one of the most experienced people in South Africa when it comes to the application of climate change mitigation measures. In 2004, after working as a strategy consultant in the energy field at PwC, Henk joined EcoSecurities. He moved to Johannesburg in 2006 to establish an African climate change strategy and carbon credit development operation. During this time, and afterwards as one of the founders of EcoMetrix Africa, he developed numerous GHG strategies and CDM projects/methodologies including Transalloy’s Energy Efficiency Project and the Highveld Steel Open Slag Bath Methodology.

Lodewijk Nell (Partner) has gained more than ten years of experience in developing, financing and commercializing low-carbon energy projects and technologies during his tenure at EcoSecurities/JP Morgan, TNO and PwC. When moving to South Africa in 2009 and co-founding EcoMetrix Africa, he widened his focus to energy and climate change management consultancy. He has assisted government and business across the spectrum of strategy and policy development, performance management and the implementation of low-carbon activities. Lodewijk holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering, successfully completed MBA courses at the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University and the Dutch Institute of Marketing (NIMA).

Amo Mokoape (Junior Consultant) is a BSc Environmental Science graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her passion lies in ascertaining that the general public are aware of environmental issues and are thus empowered when dealing with and through them. This has informed her decision to attain her MSc Sustainability and Adaptation from a prestigious UK science university, Centre of Alternative Technology. Amo has a background and interest in communications and public relations making her ability to translate expert environmental advice to a language that interests and can be understood by the everyday news reader unmatched and invaluable.

Joris van der Geest (Consultant to the Firm) has over 15 years of experience in investment management, M&A advisory and project finance for large scale (renewable) energy projects across the globe. After 10 years of international experience with the energy team of NIBC corporate finance, he switched to Triodos Bank, a Dutch pioneer in sustainable banking. At Triodos Investment Management, he was as head of the investment team responsible for the Ampere Equity Fund, a specialized fund acquiring large scale renewable energy projects. After successfully investing the Funds’ capital in solar and wind projects, he started as independent investment advisor. As such, he is Fund Manager for Energiefonds Brabant, a government owned renewable energy fund, and member of the Investment Committee for Susi Partners’ Renewable Energy Funds.

Tshediso Mabelane (Consultant) has gained several years of experience in assessing and developing renewable energy projects in Southern Africa. Projects concern biowaste to energy including biogas production at a basic sow piggery in Limpopo and solar photo voltaic electricity. He has been seconded to several projects as project development manager and has been active as project developer at his own firm New Black Investments as well. Having acquired a keen interest in biowaste to energy projects, he followed advanced professional training in ‘waste water and ‘waste management’ and ‘renewable energies’ in Bayern, Germany. Tshediso holds a BCom in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand and in addition is trained in project financial modelling and financial business administration.

Jan Willem Timmer (Consultant) has gained several years of experience in consulting on public finance and public policy issues. He holds a LLM degree in Law and Economics from Harvard University and a MSc degree in Finance from the University of Oxford, where he graduated cum laude. He is co-author of the book ‘Taxes and the Economy: A Survey on the Impact of Taxes on Growth, Employment, Investment, Consumption and the Environment’, published worldwide by Edward Elgar Publishing, UK. The book examines, among other things, the use and impact of taxation as a tool in the environmental realm.

Hendrik Worm (Senior Consultant) has more than 10 years experience in the process industry combining advanced engineering and information technology skills. He has been instrumental in developing tailor made IT solutions for clients automating their energy and carbon management monitoring processes. Hendrik has a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
